In brief
- The Teacher Appraisal Cycle runs from March-March each year.
- We use the Standards for the Teaching Profession to measure our practice, which have replaced the PTCs.
- Appraisal is done in pairs (Critical Friendships).
- Goals (two in total) are established in March, emerging from
- PLG Spiral of Inquiry focus and
- Departmental / personal subject-based reflection (these might possibly be one and the same depending on your focus)
- We regularly discuss the steps we’re taking towards achieving our goals, and how this process is going with our Critical Friend (appraiser).
- We record the above steps and the discussion around the evidence of progress towards our goals, and align this with each standard being met.
- Your Critical Friend (appraiser) will complete the summary report alongside you during your last meeting together.
